A bit about me
Chris in the process of building a wood-fired sauna at his home
I’m so glad you’re here. I started this business in 2025 with the goal of providing home repair services to the greater Washtenaw County area with the hopes of combining my interests into a way to make a living to achieve a more balanced life. If I can help with your projects please let me know!
I grew up in a small iron mining town in the Upper Peninsula. When I was a baby, my parents bought a house in need of renovation so I grew up watching my dad remodel and fix things. Plus, the UP is generally populated by self-sufficient people so fixing and building things became second nature to me. I moved down state to attend Albion College. After my freshman year I moved into an off-campus co-op house where we shared house duties and it was there where I first tried out my skills as a handyman with varying levels of success. It's called the Goodrich Club and is the namesake of this business.
After graduating with a biology degree I found myself in Ann Arbor working for an environmental organization and soon found myself at a biotech and have worked in multiple laboratories over the years. I discovered home brewing in my early 20’s and that hobby became my profession when I started the Chelsea Alehouse, a brewpub that was open from 2013-2024 downtown Chelsea, MI.
After the Alehouse closed, I had been searching for a way to once again be self-employed. I have always had an interest in fixing and building things (the photo shows me building the woodfired sauna at my home a few years ago ) I had renovated much of the house I lived in for 20 years and was constantly fixing things at the Alehouse. So, I obtained my builders license and started Goodrich Home Repair to use those skills and once again strike out on my own.
If you have read this far, thank you. I look forward to hearing about your projects and how I can help!
